Sammy Moore

Central High School 1949-1952 Sammy Moore was a star for Louisville Central in the Kentucky High School Athletic League. He earned all-district, all-region and all-state honors three consecutive years.  He led Central to the 1952 National Negro Tournament Championship where he was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. His senior year, he led the state in scoring with a 24 ppg average which ranks high on Louisville Central’s all-time scoring list.  Adding to the many great athletes of the past that have come from Central High School, Sammy Moore’s jersey number was retired by the school.
