The KHSBHF defines the “Essence of the Game” as the rich heritage and invaluable life lessons taught through the experience of playing basketball. These treasures that players and coaches take with them, long after the competition stops, have shaped many lives for the better. Hard work, respect for authority, the value of teamwork, personal responsibility and the importance of tradition are just a few elements that make up the “Essence of the Game” – a theme we seek to encompass with each inductee.

If you love Kentucky high school basketball, this is a must watch. 32 is a documentary produced by the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018 for the opening of the museum in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Divided into four, eight-minute quarters to represent the four periods of a game, 32 tells the real story of high school basketball in Kentucky. It is highlighted as “A Kentucky Basketball Story: Where It All Began.”
