What started as an effort by a few Kentucky area coaches to highlight the considerable history of high school basketball in the Bluegrass State has since inducted many former players and coaches for their outstanding contributions to the game.
The Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame was born out of an idea from the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches. The project began in October 2009 with the stated purpose of recognizing and protecting the heritage of Kentucky High School Basketball.
Elizabethtown, Kentucky, served as the Hall of Fame’s home until the location’s closure in 2024. While a new location is set to open in Louisville in 2029, the organization remains active, guided by a dedicated board of directors and supported by volunteers. They continue to celebrate the achievements of past inductees and welcome new honorees each year, keeping the spirit of the Hall of Fame alive.
