An All-State player at Lone Jack High School in 1971, Rodney Woods would go on to a stellar career at 
Tennessee and as point guard he directed the Ernie and Bernie Show for Coach Ray Mears’ Volunteers. As good as Rodney was as a player, he may have become a better coach. He is Kentucky’s fifth all-time winningest coach with over 800+ wins and has twice been named Kentucky Coach of the Year. Coach Woods has been at Wayne County 37 years and counting, averaging 20+ wins per season taking the Cardinals to nine Sweet 16 tournaments. His career has taken him from Lone Jack to the University of Tennessee to Wayne County and has now brought him to the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame.
