The first ever basketball game held in the current Paintsville High School gymnasium took place over 70 years ago on December 9, 1952 against Flat Gap with the Tigers defeating the Greyhounds 72-50. Since construction, this gymnasium has been the home to not only boys varsity basketball games but also girls basketball games, middle school basketball games, volleyball games, proms, homecoming dances, pep rallies, graduations, and much more. The history and memories created in this site span several generations in the Paintsville community. When individuals step onto the floor for a game or walk across the stage during graduation, they are joining Paintsville alumni from the past 70 years who have shared this same experience.
