Irene Moore

Breathitt County High School 1975-1978 Irene led her Lady Bobcats to the KHSAA State Tournament in 1977 and 1978.  With a runner-up finish in the 1978 KHSAA State Tournament, she was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.  An extremely active player on the court, her energy propelled Breathitt County to its first regional basketball title in 1977.  She was named All-State in 1977 and 1978 and capped off her career by being named Miss Basketball in 1978. Earning a basketball scholarship to Morehead State University, she starred on Coach Mickey Wells’ first OVC championship team.
