A personal note from our Board Chair, Ken Trivette
“I first met Cliff Hagan in 1973 when I was a graduate assistant in the UK basketball program. As Athletics Director, he treated me with immense respect and made me feel right at home. Over the years, whenever we reconnected, he never changed—he remained a man of genuine class in every sense of the word.
While Cliff was an extraordinary basketball player, he was an even better human being. His off-the-court work and philanthropy were exemplary, and he always preferred making a difference over seeking the spotlight.
When we were developing the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame, I visited him at his Lexington home to seek his advice and wisdom. His response was a resounding ‘yes’ in support of our efforts. He once shared with me that his high school career formed the foundation for everything that followed, and over the years, whenever we needed him, he was always there.
I am saddened to the depth of my soul by his passing, but I am profoundly grateful to our Lord for blessing us with such a remarkable man.
With great respect and gratitude,
Ken Trivette
