Ellis Johnson

Ashland High School 1929 Ellis was one of the greatest all-around athletes in Kentucky history. He was a star for Ashland High School in football, basketball, baseball, and track and field. Ellis would lead Ashland to four basketball state tournament appearances from 1926-1929 and lead them to the state title in 1928. He played on a national high school championship team and would go on to a stellar career in four sports at the University of Kentucky. In 1933, he became Coach Adolph Rupp’s first All-American.
