Dickie Prater

Pikeville High School 1946-1950 One of the greatest shooters ever to come out of the mountains, Dickie Prater led the Pikeville Panthers to consecutive KHSAA state tournament appearances in 1949 and 1950.He scored over 2,000 career points, averaging 29 points per game his senior year. He was selected to the Louisville Invitational All-Tournament team in both his junior and senior years. He was named first team All-state in 1949 and 1950 leading the balloting for the All-State team his senior year. Adolph Rupp signed Prater to a scholarship after a brilliant High School career.
