Remembering Frank Ramsey – Kentucky basketball legend

We’re saddened by the recent passing of Kentucky basketball legend Frank Ramsey. Frank led his Madisonville Maroons to back to back appearances in the 1948 and 1949 state tournaments and was a 1st Team All-State selection in ’49.

The 6-foot-3 guard was known as a fierce competitor and helped lift Kentucky to an NCAA Championship in 1951. He went on to play for the Boston Celtics in the NBA and was a key contributor to seven championships for the storied professional franchise.

Frank was inducted in the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014. Our thoughts and prayers to his family.

Heartland Elementary Visit to Hall of Fame

The Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame was honored to host Heartland Elementary’s Fifth Grade classes this morning as a part of their spring field-trip. Thanks to Miss Savanna Roof and the fifth grade teachers who accompanied the students on their visit to the Hardin County History Museum, the Brown-Pusey House, The Historic State Theater and the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame. The students enjoyed a brief tour that included a vertical jump test and an opportunity to sink a basket on our Pop-A-Shot machine. Thanks to all for making this a wonderful visit!
