Bob White, Kentucky high school sportswriter for over 50 years, passed away this past Monday in Louisville where he spent most of his career writing for the Courier Journal.
Bob was a very special person whose professionalism, integrity, love of high school sports and humble nature made him an icon! He was a great sports writer but even a better man.
Those of us that got to know him were privileged people that were blessed and understood his service to high school sports was unparalleled in Kentucky sports history. He gave so much and asked so little -a character trait that is rarely given the value it deserves.
So let us pause every time we watch, listen to or view a high school sporting event and raise our hand in his honor! For we were in the presence of humble greatness – a rarity- a beautiful man who just happened to love the games kids play.
